Finished: The Furillen project
FishYourDream.com has initiated a project for developing eco-tourism and conservation on the island of Furillen off the northeastern shores of Gotland.
The project is financed by Leader+, the European Union and private efforts.
Key players in this project besides FishYourDream.com are Fabriken Furillen AB, Fårösunds Sportfiskeklubb, Länsstyrelsen på Gotland och Rute Hembygdsförening. Administrator of the project is FishYourDream.com owner Per Jobs.

An eco friendly island?
Is it possible to create an island where thoughts of conservation and sustainability is always present? In transports, in living and in working? The island is ideal for a pilot study; limited size, minimal number of land owners and great possibilities for eco tourism of different kinds.

Northern pike research project
The project is starting a research project for Northern Pike (Esox Lucius) to learn about the population and its reproduction in the area. The project will also make it possible for sportfishermen to take part in the conservation of this species by tagging and releasing with our specially trained guides. Tag and release a pike and you will receive a unique release certificate, created by a famous Gotland artist. The certificate presents information of the fish in question and says that you have contributed to the research of the Gotland fish conservation programme.

A green hotel
Fabriken Furillen is one of FishYourDream.com´s partners and is also the major land owner on the island. The project will cooperate with the hotel in an effort to make the hotel more environmental friendly. Reviewing food, materials, transports, energy sources etc.

Hermitage cabins
The owner of hotel Fabriken Furillen, Johan Hellström, has for several years been working on what he calls hermitage cabins. Simple but classy designed cabins placed in the Furillen nature with no road connecting them with civilisation. A refuge from the accelerating pace of everyday life.
The project wants to connect these cabins with future eco tourism businesses and researchprojects. The project also wants to produce a book describing the highlights of the unique Furillen flora and fauna with photos taken by Johan Hellström (who is a photographer) to educate both guests in the cabins and the hotel as well as the general public. A study will also be performed to learn about possibilities to make one of the cabins accessible for disabled persons.

Hiking trail
The project will also plan and initiate the production of a hiking trail on Furillen.
Besides making it easier to move by foot on the island, the trail can inform hikers about flora, fauna and cultural history.

Other eco tourism activities?
A study will be performed to learn about possibilities to initiate other eco tourism activities such as hunting, kayaking, birdwatching, and riding.
