Fishing report

We had our last trout fishing guests in the beginning of may and thereforeits time to wrap the past season up; fall 07 and spring 08.

Weather
was pretty much like it usually is on Gotland; a warm winter, some hard winds in the fall and a sunny spring. A lot of good sized fish this year and very few of our trouts caught had their fat fin cut off (A swedish rule states that hatcherys has to remove the fat fin for identification), meaning most trout is of Gotland origin or at least not raised by humans...

As usual there are more trout caught in the spring, but I would say this is mainly due to more anglers than in the fall, but also because of spawned fish that stick around their reproduction stream. This is also why more fish are brown in the spring.
The fall and winter offers more silver colored fish but also more challenging conditions from time to time. A few spring charters generated double digit catches...

Gotska Sandön
is an island and a national park in the Baltic about 25 nautical miles north of Gotland. Here all fishing is prohibited, commercial and recreational. But as a way of carefully developing this very exclusive destination FishYourDream.com has made explorational fishing trips to the island. Read more.

Conservation
We have been assisting authorities with "electrical fishing" a way of counting fish in spawning streams. A new way of treating the retrieved data has also been created for easier access to data in the future.

We also initiated a pike tagging programme in the late fall of 2007 that will help us learn about the Baltic pike movements, growth rates and more. Anglers can help, so participate!

Finally
we would like to thank all guests and partners for their contribution to the past season, and say welcome back to Sweden an Gotland! Also a special thank you to all of you who sent nice pictures!

Tight lines!
